First Song Out There! (And Lessons Learned)

Today, as scheduled, my first song got published in Spotify - and some other platforms for sure, but I just checked Spotify... Here is the link, hope you like it! Big Bang on Spotify Now, a few things catching my attention that might need fixing... First, I feel my song is a little bit too quiet compared to others around... I have been mixing for a final Integrated LUFS around -20dB, so I guess I should target something higher instead, maybe around -16dB. Not a big issue, at least I can't hear clipping or other conversion artifacts Second, lyrics don't show up - in Spotify at least - but that might be part of the processing time of the platform for lyrics, as well as the ability to claim my artist's page which I still can't... I supposed those would happen sometime this week Third, DistroKid HyperFollow page, which seems like a good idea, can't be used for already published songs? The one for Big Bang ( https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jc6beats/big-bang ) still say...

AD18 - What it is About?

Just like in physics we believe there is a set of laws, some still unknown, that rule everything from elemental particles to full galaxies, it could be thought there is a similar set of laws that might rule history... and stories Imagine the same equations or principles could explain, even if we are never able to understand them, every event, from human evolution, to relationships, to that party with your friends, or even you sitting at home feeling blue for whatever reason If such laws exists we should be able to draw parallelisms between human experiences at all levels, concepts and situations that, at some level, look the same or converge into a unique idea... Moreover, ff those laws eventually merge with the physic ones, it would be probably bad news for humankind and free will In any case, AD18 is my own attempt to explore and play with that fundamental concept... a playlist of 6 or 7 songs related between them and somehow mapped to bigger than life stages I don't expect succe...

Lyrics Uploaded and Synced in DistroKids

Quick update on my first attempt to publish a song to streaming platforms... I uploaded the lyrics to DistroKid yesterday or the day before... it got finally processed today and the synching option got enabled I must admit my first couple of attempts felt a little bit awkward, but once I got used to how it works it went out quite naturally, so kudos there guys! I also noticed a couple of lines were missing from the lyrics I uploaded originally, so I added it expecting a wait time for DistroKid to process it, but this change showed up green almost immediately and I was able to proceed with the synching Right now it seems we're ready to go... can't wait for May 9th 😜

First Song Sent to DistroKid!

Yesterday I uploaded my first song to DistroKid ! Right now waiting for it to be distributed, supposedly on May 9th... Let's see how it goes, it's exciting even if I don't expect anyone from listening to it! 😅 The upload process has been easy and quick so far... several options are not yet available, like synced lyrics, Spotify for Artists , and a few others since most rely on at least one song being published The first song, Big Bang, is part of AD18, a Conceptual Playlist - I guess there are no Albums anymore - I'm working on. It will have some 6 or 7 songs linked together through a few personal experiences, even if that might be less than obvious to others Second song is almost done and I hope to upload it sometime this week, while the fourth has just entered production phase... it make take a week or two before it is ready to be distributed but who knows, it might be longer than that Also, as part of this whole experiment, I'm trying to set up a full social med...

Where am I going to...

As mentioned in a previous post, amateur musicians like me now have the possibility of easily - at least from a tools perspective - composing and producing almost any kind of music they feel inclined to... but even more, with the success of Spotify and other streaming platforms you can also publish and share your songs with the whole world! And that's my next step... not to become famous or earn money, that's beyond my wildest dreams! But to understand how all this thing works, kind of a research project A few initial finds that somehow shocked me were: It is reasonably cheap to start (I'll post from time to time how much I have expended into it) The existence of companies that track any usage of your music all over Internet The many streaming services are out there, besides the obvious ones How fuzzy seems to be the match between you and your accounts in those services As an example of that last bullet, I remember watching a YouTube video where someone mentioned his song w...

Where do I come from...

I've been an amateur musician for longer than I dare to remember, playing different instruments with varying degrees of success over the years... flute, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards. I never wanted or tried to be a professional - an artist's life is hard at least and I really like a comfortable way of living - but I love the playing, I love the stage, and it is one of those rare activities that completely pulls me off reality. Six or eight hours can pass by easily when playing or practicing without me noticing anything. Regarding musical styles I can listen to mostly everything out there, with the possible exception of Opera. Queen, Supertramp, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Miley Cirus, Katy Perry, The Cure, Nirvana, Brand X, Sebastián Yatra, Chris Stapleton, and keep going. Of course, some songs are better than others, some are completely out of my taste, some I can't help but sing and move along. But no real upfront dislike for any kind of music I believe. That being said, s...
